For years, I wanted to create a podcast or Youtube channel that focused solely on the act of creating.  Software agnostic...Skill agnostic.

When I was first brainstorming the idea of the podcast, I had just re-created my personal portfolio website.  I wanted to draw on my roots a bit, so I dove into classic Italian advertising and typesetting.

For my portfolio, I sampled colors from a variety of ads until I felt like I had a cohesive color palette.

With the podcast, I wanted to differentiate the styling, but still be reminiscent of my personal brand.  I tweaked the orange from the main color palette and created a more subdued branding for the podcast.

The goal for the episode artwork in Season 1 was to center around the theme of a lightbulb and explore the different environments that I could put them in.  

I chose to generate the background images in Midjourney and Black Forest Labs Flux.1 Dev model.  After they were generated and upscaled, I brought them in to Adobe Photoshop for additional tweaks and cleanup.  

My emphasis on creating a streamlined process for the artwork was a result of my goal for letting nothing get in the way of me producing more episodes.

For more general assets, I create them using an amalgamation of Cinema 4D, AI Generative Image Models, Adobe Photoshop, and Illustrator.

SockHodler is a pet project of mine from 2021 when I was involved in the Cryptocurrency Ecosystem.  I had been yearning for a creative release, so I envisioned a form of wearables that would combine the blockchain functionality of Algorand with physical apparel like socks.

Sounds crazy, right?  Well, it kinda was.  Logistically though, it was the easiest article of clothing to get started with.  I was able to source one-size-fits-all socks and I wouldn't need to stock and design for multiple sizes.

I designed and launched the SockHodler shop on Wordpress with the WooCommerce extension.  To be able to offer crypto as a payment option, I selected MyCryptoCheckout. 

I wanted SockHodler to feel like the 80's.  Other than the simple fact that I am a product of the 80s, the style was gaining in popularity at the time, especially in crypto projects.  

When designing the brand, I really leaned into the neon blues, purples and teals.

From the beginning, I wanted a premium feel and fit to the socks.  I must have gotten 15 different samples from suppliers before settling on these.  

The majority of SockHodler socks were dye sublimated, but several designs were woven.  Due to the complexity of some designs, they needed the dye sublimation process to retain the level of detail that I wanted.

Basically, I needed a way for a device and a server to interact with the apparel.​​​​​​​  Thus the partnership with SmartSeal was born.

They had a method to authenticate NFTs on the blockchain through the use of Nearfield Communications (NFC) tags.

The trouble was that they didn't support Algorand; only the Ethereum and Solana.

With a little bit of pestering on my part, the founder agreed to work together on adding support for Algorand.  The NFT's functioned differently, but ultimately, it was a pretty straightforward change to connect to their API.

Like the socks, I wanted the packaging to have the wow-factor when someone received them in the mail. Each shipment that went out had a custom printed box, belly band, and branded plastic pouches.

My partner and I initially conceived the idea of SockBot when we wanted to create a face to the SockHodler brand.  We imagined this post-apocalyptic world where this lonely little robot was searching for his master; left only with a pair of his socks when he suddenly came back on-line. 

It originally started as a joke, but then we grew a certain fondness of him once I modeled him out in 3D.

SockBot is a collection of 2,222 NFTs minted on the Algorand blockchain.  This NFT collection combines crisp 3D art and 175+ unique traits for maximum coolness.

In 2023, Torrey Benane and I observed a shift in the creative industry, characterized by clients demanding faster content and an increase in cookie-cutter digital content online. We embarked on developing an AI-enabled app designed to produce superior scripts and realistic AI voiceovers.

At the time, there were limited tools available to achieve our goal and convincing traditional marketing departments to trust AI-Generated content would be difficult.  On top of that, marketers already had difficulty maintaining their brand voice across all of their content (social media, blogs, video), so we needed to account for that.

Epicly was accepted into the Founder University Pre-Accelerator and, despite not securing investment, ranked in the top 10% of a cohort of over 225 startups.

The challenge was to build something powerful enough for enterprise use yet intuitive enough for small teams without dedicated designers. Marketing teams were spending countless hours creating variations of ads for different platforms, audiences, and A/B tests. The existing tools were either too complex or produced generic results that didn't convert. This video campaign garnered over half a million views on Youtube, and continue to be used in other playlists from the brand.

It can't be understated on how big New York Street is at Paramount Studios.  Spanning across several mock "city blocks", we set up the "Scent and Beauty Marketplace" in the block towards the back.  It gave enough room to fit people in, but also wasn't so expansive that we would need to fill a lot of space with visuals and decorations.

In the portfolio of BPG brands, Shiseido, Dolce and Gabbana, Laura Mercier, Hermes, and Issey Miyake were featured with their own dedicated sections.

For Hermes, they showcased their products along with a photo booth with their pattern as a backdrop.  There was also a coffee bar where a barista would serve guests with a cup of coffee art.

Laura Mercier's booth featured a product showcase, live try-ons for their lipstick line, and interactive quizzes for the guests.  I created the signage for the booth and building as well as graphic design for the quizzes.

Shiseido was fashioned like a retro magazine stand.  Like the other brands, we designed custom window graphics and signage for the newspaper stand that featured their "Tsubaki" or Camellia logo bug.

The theme for Dolce & Gabbana was that of a traditional Italian market.  There was a guitarist playing live music, branded Gelato cups, and a backdrop where attendees could post their selfies.

The Edison was the only venue that was not hosted at Paramount for the Sales Event.  It was a unique location that boasted industrial/steampunk decor and there was a live DJ.  

To take advantage of the space, myself and Bryan Capri took 50 years of japanese Shiseido commercials and cut them into a 20 minute seamless loop that played on TVs and projectors around the venue.  

As the club is underground, when the guests walked in on ground level, they were greeted with the Shiseido logo on the floor, made possible by a custom gobo mounted to a Leko light.

I supplied the vectors for this and also designed the cocktail signs and miscellaneous collateral that was displayed in the Edison.

As the event spanned multiple days with several prominent brands, event branding was created for all the distinct activations and collateral.

For Day 1 of the event, the presentations by the C-Suite were hosted at the Paramount Theater.  This served as the kickoff to the entire event and allowed us to make full use of their Stereoscopic 3D 2K Projectors.

The team at East of Ellie were able to secure the 3D glasses for the event and I fleshed out the logistics for an immersive 3D intro video.

Paramount's projector used side-by-side images for their 3D and the eyeglasses were polarized (think IMAX 3D) vs. the traditional red/blue anaglyph glasses.

Colin and I developed a series of tests with different amounts of visual offset between each eye before I flew out to location scout the venue a month before the event.  

Paramount was kind enough to let me run tests with them to find the idea 3D effect, before flying back out to continue work on the videos.

The folks at East of Ellie brought me on as a Creative Director for the visuals of the event. If we weren't the first ones to make a photo booth that looks like a magazine, then we were definitely one of the earliest. 69878d21b51666cece64d2a3 Before we even got the green light to pursue this idea, Emily Chalk from East of Ellie had me mock up the box and faux magazine cover in 3D. It was designed to scale, and once approved, I passed on my measurements and renders to the prop builders. Also, I had provided the vectors to the builders so the "magazine cover" could be cut on a large format vinyl plotter. 69878e13b51666cece64d2a7 The artistry studio was a hit for attendees. Laura Mercier sent down their staff of professional makeup artists, and we transformed an empty building into a feature that allowed guests to have their makeup applied, have a glass of champagne, and review new product offerings. 69878f7eb51666cece64d2ab 69879015b51666cece64d2b0 Once again, 3D visualization was needed to convey what the space could look like. Beneath the refined facades of the New York Street buildings, many of them have interiors made for utility. Power hookups for film lights, storage, etc. 69879051b51666cece64d2b1 During the initial location scout, I took reference photography and measurements of the spaces so that the footprint could be re created in 3D. The mockups were not only useful as a tool to help illustrate our creative vision, but also as a reference for the folks setting up the space to East of Ellie's specs. 698790c3b51666cece64d2b5 Since this event had a number of different brands being highlighted over 3 days, there was a fair bit of collateral design needed. Below is a sampling of what I created, but there were Step and Repeats, Signage, Popcorn Boxes, you name it.
